5-6yr Old Soccer Rules
Normal soccer rules apply unless contradicted below:
- 7 v 7 including Goalie (Unless otherwise
agreed to by both coaches prior to a game)
- Games consist of two 18 minute halves
- Teams have 1 practice and one game per week.
- All players must play at least 1/2 of each
game
- Two time-outs per game.
- An offensive player may not
kick at the ball if a goalie has a hand on the ball.
- No penalty kicks
- Off-sides will not be called
- Ball may be in-bounded by throw-in or kick-in
- Free substitutions on any whistle
- Referees will make all final decisions on the playing field.
- All games open with a brief prayer and end
with team-to-team handshakes.
- No more than one coach per team allowed on the
field
- Team sidelines should be opposite parents and
spectators when possible
- Players must be on the official roster kept in the Recreation Department.
- Sportsmanship Rule: If a team is behind by
3 goals or more they are allowed to add an 8th player to the field. In the
event an 8th player is not available, the winning team must take a player off
the field until the score is with within two goals. If the score gap
increases players should be added or removed as needed to foster competitive
play and fun.
Coaches:
- No more than one coach per team allowed on
the field during the game.
- Stay with players after games and practices until parents arrive.
- Be certain that parents are informed of policies and practices regarding
snacks, trash pick-up, end-of-season banquet, and weather hotline.
Recommended: solicit volunteer to act as "Team Parent" to coordinate
communication with other parents.
- Help be responsible for soccer balls on the field - return
all practice balls to bags or ball carts prior to the start of the game
and after each practice.
- Inform team mom and or players of any changes in games or practices.
- Coaches are responsible for activities of children on
their team during games. Parents must assume full responsibility and
supervision of all siblings, friends, or other children attending games and
practices.
Parents:
Pick up your children promptly after each game and practice.
Inform coach when your child will not attend any games or practices.
Support your child’s coach and team by attending
all practices and games.
See that all trash is picked up after
practices and games.
Provide snacks for games on a rotating basis with other families.
Supervise all children (siblings, friends, etc.) who are not on the team
currently playing or practicing.
Parent and spectators should stand away from
the team sidelines when possible
